Raiders, O.co Coliseum agree to one-year extension
The Oakland Raiders and O.co Coliseum have agreed to a one-year extension that will keep the Raiders in Oakland another season.
Relocation has dominated part of the discussion thus far this off-season in the NFL. With the Los Angeles Rams building a stadium in Inglewood and possibly having the San Diego Chargers join them, it had left the Oakland Raiders without a home.
Raiders owner Mark Davis has long been looking for a new home for the Raiders and hasn’t been shy about his intentions. During the process of the NFL’s relocating a team back to Los Angeles, Davis wouldn’t necessarily commit to staying in Oakland.
While the future status of the Raiders’ home is unknown, Oakland fans can rest easy knowing that they will still have their team next year. According to Adam Schefter, the Raiders and O.co Coliseum have agreed on a one-year extension that will keep the team in Oakland next season.
This is certainly good news for Oakland and the Raiders as it gives the city more time to come up with a plan to keep the team in the future. The NFL will also be trying to help keep the Raiders in the Oakland market too if they can.
At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to what Davis wants to do and if the two sides can reach a long-term option that will mutually benefit each other.
