When does Red Sox spring training 2016 start?
When will the Boston Red Sox report to spring training in 2016?
The Boston Red Sox will be going into the 2016 season looking to win their ninth World Series title. Three year increments appear to do well for them. They have last won the World Series in 2013, 2007, and 2004. 2016 should be a very special season for Boston if that pattern continues.
The Red Sox will begin reporting to spring training on Feb. 18. That’s when pitchers and catchers will report. Sox fans will get to get their first look at the prize acquisition of the offseason in starting pitcher David Price. Price gives Boston something that they haven’t had since the departure of Jon Lester: a legitimate ace.
David should significantly help the rotation that struggled at times last season. It also eases the pressure on their bullpen which got helped by the acquisition of San Diego Padres reliever Craig Kimbrel. The Sox will have their first workout on Feb. 19. On Feb. 23, the rest of Boston’s position players will report. This will be David Ortiz’s last season so Boston fans can rest assured that he will be quite motivated to end his career with his fourth World Series ring. Boston will hold their first full squad workout on Feb. 24.
It will be interesting to see how much this veteran team has in the tank. Boston has a ton of older players to go along with young pups such as Xander Bogaerts. Can the Red Sox find a way to win the American League East and then do damage in the postseason?
