Houston Rockets interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff used the term ‘broken team’ to describe his bunch.

The Rockets are not a good team, barely hanging on in the Western Conference playoff race. Houston was supposed to be a fringe contender for the Finals after pushing the Golden State Warriors in the conference finals last year. On Wednesday, interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff talked about this mess, per ESPN.

"“We’re broken,” Bickerstaff said. “It’s that simple. We’re a broken team, and we all need to use this break to figure out how we’re going to impact change. If we don’t want to impact change, then we need to be made aware of that, too, and we’ll go in a different direction.“We can’t continue to go out and play this way. It’s easy to see it’s a fragmented bunch. You can’t win that way.”"

Here’s the real problem with the Rockets. They only play on one side of the court. James Harden is a great scorer, but he’s a loser. Harden is never going to be the type of player that can lead a team to a championship. Why? Because he does commercials making fun of the fact that he gives zero effort on the defensive end.

Meanwhile, the other star player is the most unlikable star in the league for both fans and players alike. Dwight Howard is an aging star who no longer commands constant attention, and doesn’t seem to care all that much about winning. The Rockets have two guys who are completely checked out at different points of the game.

Houston is 27-28 and on the brink of oblivion. The Rockets have talent, but the players don’t mesh right and the coaching has been awful there for years. It’s time to start finding creative ways to blow up the roster and start over, as this franchise searches for its first NBA title since 1995.
