When does Yankees spring training 2016 start?
When will the New York Yankees report to spring training in 2016?
The New York Yankees will be going into the 2016 season looking to win their 28th World Series title. They have not won a World Series since 2009. New York will look to improve upon last season when they lost to the Houston Astros in the Wild Card game. Despite not adding any major free agents, they should contend for a championship like they usually do with stars dotting the roster.
The Yankees will begin reporting to spring training on Feb. 18. That’s when pitchers and catchers will report. New York will be welcoming relief pitcher Arodlis Chapman to the bullpen and will be hoping that starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia has gotten everything in order after attending rehab. Their first workout will be on Feb. 19.
Position players will report to spring training on Feb. 24. The Bronx Bombers will be hoping that Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixiera can remain productive while hoping that outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is ready to rebound after a down year in 2015. They will be welcoming infielder Starlin Castro from the Chicago Cubs.
New York will have their first full squad workout on Feb. 25. The men in pinstripes should contend if their rotation can rebound and if their bullpen is as good as it appears to be on paper.
