Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay had a lot to say about Andrew Luck’s next contract.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is among the best at his position in the league. This is despite missing most of last season due to multiple injuries. His play also wasn’t at its highest level when he was on the field, but that may have been due to the nagging ailments.
At some point, Luck is going to get a new contract that could possibly become the highest for any quarterback in the NFL. He has shown the ability to be great in his first few years and has the potential to only get better.
In regards to a new deal, Colts owner Jim Irsay recently spoke out about this and had some interesting things to say.
According to Jay Busbee of Yahoo Sports, Irsay said in an interview with WISH-TV, “It’s going to be a big number. It’s going to be a shocking number, nine figures and probably a $20 million starting point per year, but again we will find the right number to get to.”
Irsay being outspoken shouldn’t come as a surprise. He often gives honest comments to the media and won’t dodge a question.
Speaking out about a contract is curious, though. Putting this piece of information out there could make Luck’s camp ask for more money since Irsay is infatuated with the four-year pro.
Whatever contract Andrew Luck receives, it will be a sizeable one.
