Gregg Popovich used to call Drake on his cell phone.

But then the outdated electronics repair shop called, telling Coach Pop his 1998 Palm Pilot was fixed. So now the San Antonio Spurs’ head honcho just hits him on AOL Instant Messenger.

This might seem weird to you, but it’s not. You see, as Pop told a throng of reporters, he and Drake are hardly strangers:

“Drake and I are tight,” he said, like it was no big deal—as if the rap mogul and himself roll with the same crew, share an affinity for the same pinot noirs and visit the same techno clubs on Saturday nights.

And you know what? Now, after Popovich’s totally serious, not-at-all-facetious assertion, I’m not entirely convinced they aren’t friends-sharing, wine-splitting, club-going BFFAEAEs (best friends forever and ever and ever).
