Roy Jones Jr. has challenged his fans to step in the ring with him, with the winner receiving $100,000.

Roy Jones Jr. is a boxing legend, and always will be, but he has received his fair share of criticism for being unwilling to step out of the ring even at the ripe age of 47. When his face hit the mat in the fourth round against Enzo Maccarinelli, that should’ve been the last we’d see of him. Many were eager for him to make the official announcement, only for him to deny subsequent reports.

Instead, he announced that he would step back into the ring, but not against a professional boxer. As part of an event in Phoenix called “UR Fight,” Roy Jones is offering any of his fans to submit a 90-second video explaining why they should step into the ring with him and whoever can beat him will win $100,000.

This is clearly a shot at fans calling for Jones to retire and cynics claiming that he could beat him. Considering he has nothing left in the sport to prove, perhaps he should hang up the gloves. But he’s not going to go out without his pride. And if he loses another bout with a professional boxer, he can at least try to revive his music career.
