Who should the Minnesota Wild hire to replace the recently fired Mike Yeo?

The Minnesota Wild have officially fired Mike Yeo as their head coach. He will be the scapegoat of the Wild’s recent issues. Minnesota entered this season with high hopes after making it into the second round of the playoffs for a second straight season. After re-signing goaltender Devan Dubnyk, the expectations were even higher. The Wild were doing fine until roughly game 40. That’s when Minnesota stopped scoring goals and started allowing them at an alarming rate.

It’s quite likely that the Wild will go with a safer pick. That would be quite typical of the Wild who have largely avoided big splashes. Mike Yeo himself was not a big splash but he did quite well for himself in Minnesota.

However, perhaps the Wild are ready for a real change. There are several head coach candidates out there who could replace Yeo capably. Not all of them would be be considered to be a “big splash”. The Minnesota Wild must make the right decision when hiring their next head coach because he (or she) will be directly responsible for helping the Wild make one last potential Stanley Cup run with their core of guys.

Who should the Minnesota Wild hire? Let’s take a look at five potential head coach candidates.
