Kevin Durant is set to become the NBA’s most coveted free agent after this season; here are five reasons why the New York Knicks should be the next stop in his career.

With the NBA All-Star weekend upon us, it feels like an appropriate time to look ahead to this summer’s exciting crop of free agents. With huge names like LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan and Pau Gasol all holding player options, as well as perennial superstars like Dwyane Wade, Rajon Rondo and Nicolas Batum set to become unrestricted free agents, we could see a massive change in the NBA landscape. One of the most exciting players soon to become an unrestricted free agent is the 2014 MVP, Kevin Durant.

After a rough, injury-plagued season in 2015, Durant has returned to the Oklahoma City Thunder as one of the league’s premier talents. The Durantula is averaging 27.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. If there was any doubt to the state of Durant’s game upon his return, number 35 has easily put those fears to rest. When Durant becomes a free agent in the summer the Washington D.C. native will surely have his pick of the NBA available to him. None of 30 teams in the association would balk at bringing in a player of Durant’s immense talent.

That being said, however, there is one location that should be very tempting for the University of Texas alumnus, and that is the Big Apple. More specifically Madison Square Garden, the home of the New York Knicks (sorry, not sorry, Nets). If Durant really wants to make a statement and write his name in the history books, the Knicks should rank high on his list.

Here are five reasons why Kevin Durant should sign with the New York Knicks this summer.
