2016 NFL offseason: Denver Broncos needs
Fresh off their championship in Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos enter the offseason hungry to repeat but with plenty of question marks.
Hail to the conquering heroes. The Denver Broncos entered the golden Super Bowl as significant underdogs to the 17-1 Carolina Panthers, yet by way of a suffocating defense and an offense that did just enough, the team earned their third Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, besting their opponent by a final score of 24-10.
John Elway has solidified his standing as the greatest sports hero in Colorado history after bringing two championships to the Mile High City as a player and now one as a general manager – a feat that’s never been accomplished before in the history of the league. And Peyton Manning gets to ride off into the sunset if he chooses to, a champion in every sense of the word who has finally put to bed any question of his viability in the playoffs and on the game’s greatest stages.
It really was a fairytale ending for a team and a future Hall of Famer that many left for dead midway through the season; it’s also not surprising that over a million people showed up for the Broncos’ victory parade in downtown Denver. This team is beloved by people across the Rocky Mountain region and all of America, and they’re set up to remain strong NFL contenders for years to come.
The Broncos should continue to celebrate all they’ve accomplished this year, but it’s never too early to start thinking repeat in 2016. That process begins now – specifically with free agency and the draft.
