The Brooklyn Nets have a myriad of problems and hardly any long-term solutions on their roster. Brooklyn has to make several trades to get themselves out of the hole their previous front office put them in the last several seasons.

Brooklyn’s biggest problem has been that their play at point guard and really the play of their ball handlers has been horrible this season. It’s hard to generate offense when a team can’t trust its point guards to appropriately distribute the basketball.

One solution that could help both the Nets in the short-term and in the long-term is to make a deal with the Orlando Magic for shooting guard Victor Oladipo. To make the contracts work, the Nets would have to send shooting guard Bojan Bogdanovic and a player playing on a veteran minimum contract.

Oladipo is a guard that could play both the point or at shooting guard to hopefully jumpstart some offensive continuity for the Nets. Should the Nets get better play from their backcourt, it would probably open things up for their already strong frontcourt featuring center Brook Lopez and power forward Thaddeus Young to thrive down low.

If things go well with Oladipo in Brooklyn, he could end up re-signing with the Nets at the end of next season when he becomes a free agent for the first time. Oladipo’s athleticism, aggressiveness, and vision make him a potential star in the making if given the right head coach to learn from. He could stand as a building block the Nets desperately need in the backcourt going forward. Even three years in the league, Oladipo still has so much untapped potential.
