The Sacramento Kings are reportedly going to look for a new head coach and general manager

The Sacramento Kings have been from a calm situation over what feels like the past decade and that hasn’t changed since the arrival of owner Vivek Ranadive in the slightest. While the Kings reportedly put the talk of firing head coach George Karl before the NBA All-Star break to bed, Ranadive and president of basketball operations Vlade Divac have been holding meetings about the future of the team and Karl reportedly isn’t a part of it.

As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Ranadive and Divac met over All-Star weekend in Toronto and discussed candidates to possibly hire as the Kings’ new general manager. This comes as a reaction to Divac reportedly being overwhelmed by the duties of running the team as president of basketball operations and general managers, particularly struggling with the intricacies of the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

However, perhaps the most interesting part of these meetings in the Kings front office is that they also are planning on having a coaching search once the year ends, affirming that their recommitment to Karl was nothing more than letting a veteran coach stay until the end of the regular season.

The Kings obviously have talent on their roster, but they’ve yet to really make the strides that they need to, be it because of either coaching or front office decisions. Regardless of your thoughts on Karl or Divac in their current roles, perhaps their current plans to shake things up after this season would be what’s best for the franchise moving forward.
