According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns want a first-round pick and a young player in return for Markieff Morris.

The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching and the rumors are beginning to fly about which players could be on the move. One player that people expect to be traded is Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris. Ever since the Suns traded away Morris’ twin brother, Marcus, Morris has wanted out of town.

While he has caused plenty of distractions for the Suns and has an ongoing felony assault case, the Suns aren’t just going to give away Morris in a trade. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns have high demands in return for Morris.

"Suns general manager Ryan McDonough has been pursuing a package that includes a younger player and a first-round pick, league executives said. The Suns are motivated to honor Morris’ desire for a trade – and have no intention of bringing him back next season – but teams are starting to think the Suns could hold onto Morris past the Thursday trade deadline without a deal that brings back a player of value with a first-round pick."

Wojnarowski states that the Suns want a first-round pick and a young talented player in return for Morris. At this point, with Morris being a malcontent and not exactly having his best season, it could be wishful thinking on the Suns part.

It’s probably general manager Ryan McDonough trying to get as much leverage as he can, but the trade value for Morris has plummeted at this point and the Suns might just be better off keeping him into the off-season and hope that he finishes off the season strong.

It seems like just about every week, Morris is causing some new distraction that the team has to deal with on a national level. He’s a talented forward, but he’s got plenty of issues and a legal case to resolve. Until that’s resolved, teams might be hesitant to match the Suns’ demands.
