The Toronto Raptors are reportedly looking to add a power forward by the trade deadline on Thursday
The Toronto Raptors are expected to be huge buyers heading into the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday. Toronto’s biggest area of need is big man depth and they are expected to address that issue by targeting a power forward. They reportedly are targeting a multitude of options.
From ESPN:
"The Raptors are chasing a power forward this week. Sources say Brooklyn’s Thaddeus Young, New Orleans’ Ryan Anderson, Denver’s Kenneth Faried and the Phoenix duo of Markieff Morris and P.J. Tucker have all been pursued this month by the East’s No. 2 team."
It’s interesting that Toronto is exploring not just multiple players, but ones who have different playing styles. Ryan Anderson would give Toronto a great scoring option as a stretch four, which would help them spread out their offense and could make them even more deadly down the stretch. Anderson could help them have a chance of beating the Golden State Warriors as well. P.J. Tucker is a small forward but he could fit in as a power forward for Toronto.
On the other hand, Thaddeus Young, Kenneth Faried, and Markieff Morris are both more traditional power forwards. They are big men who dominate in the paint, so that could help them match up against the likes of the Spurs and the Cavaliers as well.
It seems like the city of Toronto could be witnessing their second magical playoff run of the sports calendar. Just as the Toronto Blue Jays made a magical run into October, the Raptors are looking to make a potential run into June.
