2016 NFL offseason: New York Giants needs
A look at the biggest needs for the New York Giants in free agency and the draft for the 2016 NFL offseason
The New York Giants are a team that has perennially high expectations out of the NFC East given their past successes over the last decade with Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin running the show. However, with Coughlin out and former offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo now taking over the helm for the Giants, the team is now looking ahead to the 2016 season and assessing what they will need to do to find more success than in recent years.
The first thing that jumps off the page when looking at the 2016 offseason for the Giants is the fact that they have just an absurd amount of room under the salary cap. With the projected cap jump coming, the Giants should have well over $50 million in room under the salary cap. Sure, that’s due in part to the fact that they are facing major free agency decisions, but that’s still a ton of room to work with.
Moreover, the Giants also have solid positioning in the 2016 NFL Draft to help set themselves up in a better position going forward as they have a pick in each of the first six rounds, including the No. 10 overall pick, to help address some of their needs and potentially find the franchise’s next star.
The Giants have severe needs littered throughout their defense heading into the 2016 offseason and will need to address them and other areas before next year. Here’s the full outlook for their 2016 NFL offseason and a glimpse into what they might do.
