According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers will give the Magic the final word on their Channing Frye trade on Wednesday.

After two trades earlier on Tuesday, a third trade appeared to be going down, when Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Los Angeles Clippers were nearing a deal with the Orlando Magic for forward Channing Frye.

Wojnarowski further reported that the Clippers would send Lance Stephenson in the deal for Frye, but were still exploring other potential deals for Stephenson.

After mentioning that the Clippers were going to explore further deals, Wojnarowski is reporting that the Clippers will give the Magic final word on Wednesday, about the deal for Frye.

While it’s strange for a deal to be reported but to have one team still gauging offers for one of the players in the trade, this is a deal that makes sense for both teams. Stephenson’s contract for next season isn’t guaranteed and the Magic would be gaining cap space in return.

Frye offers the Clippers a big man that can spread the floor and shoot the ball for them. With the playoffs drawing near, adding extra shooting and another veteran in the locker room is critical for the Clippers. They could also use a wing on the roster, which could happen if they make another Stephenson deal, but if this is the trade they end up making, then it’s a solid deal for both sides.
