Sabres forward Evander Kane issued an apology after missing a practice due to oversleeping

Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane missed practice on President’s Day after oversleeping after being at the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. Kane approached the situation on Tuesday as he apologized to his team and to his fans for his actions.

"“First and foremost, I want to apologize to my teammates for letting them down,” Kane said, via Buffalo News. “Me missing practice yesterday was irresponsible and I take full accountability for my actions with what happened. It’s something that should have never happened. It’s something that I can promise you won’t happen again and it’s something that I’m definitely going to learn from.”"

Hopefully Evander Kane’s apology does not prove to be hollow and empty. This is not the first time that Kane has gotten into trouble for his actions. He had issues off the ice while he was with the Winnipeg Jets. Kane isn’t even the first player to miss a practice due to oversleeping this season. Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin did so early in the season and received the same suspension that Kane did – one game.

Kane has a ton of talent but he will always have certain off the ice issues following him. As long as he’s talented and he doesn’t do anything illegal, Kane will likely prove to be worth the pain.

Buffalo is not going to make the postseason this year, but the team is finally moving in the right direction. After finishing dead last in 2015, the Sabres have made some progress and are already better than the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the more pathetic franchises in the NHL, if not all of major sports.
