Jeff Gordan won’t be driving in the most popular race of the NASCAR season, but he will be present throughout the week at Daytona.

Legendary NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon will not be participating in the 2016 Daytona 500. However, he will be present as a member of FOX’s broadcast team. So far in his short tenure with the company, he has provided great personal experiences to the overall broadcast by describing what it feels like as a driver as a situation plays out in the race.

For serious NASCAR fans or those who only tune in for the big races like the Daytona 500, it will be different not seeing No. 24 being driven by Gordon himself. Some people may forget that he has called it quits from driving, but his passion for the sport may eventually take him back to driving like Mark Martin did.

By being part of FOX’s NASCAR coverage, Gordon can continue to live out his passion for NASCAR and racing. He’s an intelligent person who is able to bring something new to the network’s live coverage of practice, qualifying and race day. His presence has paid off so far as he brought up many key points during the Sprint Unlimited race last week.

With Gordon recently removed from driving as well, he knows a lot of the drivers on a personal level. This bodes well when talking about the different strategies drivers or their team may take during qualifying or race day. One day Gordon may return as a driver in selected events like the Daytona 500, but for now his personality and experience will be appreciated within the broadcast tower on race days during FOX’s NASCAR coverage throughout the 2016 season.
