NBA Trade Rumors: Bucks tell Michael Carter-Williams he won’t be traded
According to Marc J. Spears, the Milwaukee Bucks have told Michael Carter-Williams that he won’t be traded.
The NBA Trade Deadline is drawing near and if a player isn’t one of the top 10 players in the league, then they’re likely included in any and all trade rumors leading up to Thursday’s deadline. One player that was on the move last year was point guard Michael Carter-Williams.
In a three-team deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks, Carter-Williams was part of a mega-deal that landed him in Philadelphia. Ever since the Bucks acquired Carter-Williams, they haven’t clicked as well as they have before the trade.
While the Bucks have made their share of mistakes, they still boast a tremendous amount of young talent and have an exciting future ahead of them. The Bucks consider Carter-Williams to be a part of that future. According to Marc J. Spears, the Bucks have reportedly told Carter-Williams that he is not being traded.
While Carter-Williams hasn’t quite turned into the player that they thought he would, the Bucks options on the market are slim at the moment and it’s probably more beneficial to stay with the young option and keep riding it out with young players.
Perhaps Milwaukee could target a point guard with their first pick and then look to move Carter-Williams after the season. There’s no need to rush any deal involving him right now, as it likely won’t bring back value in return for Milwaukee.
However, Philadelphia told him the exact same thing at last year’s deadline. It only takes one team to come around and throw a big offer at the Bucks, who are no strangers to major deals. Still, it’s more likely than not that Carter-Williams is still wearing a Bucks jersey when the deadline expires on Thursday.
