WWE is giving wrestling fans something that will definitely keep them glued to the WWE Network this summer.

When WWE Network debuted in February of 2014, there were a lot of issues. One of the issues is that the original programming wasn’t all that appealing, but this is something that they’ve improved drastically as of late. On Tuesday they announced a new slate of things to come this summer on their streaming service, but one particular programs stands out above all the rest.

As part of the new programming dump, beginning in July we will be getting a 10-week tournament comprised entirely of cruiserweights. 32 of the best high flyers from around the world will be heading to Full Sail in Florida to partake in the event.

I think I speak for a lot of pro wrestling fans out there when I say: THANK YOU SO MUCH, WWE!

In all honesty, though, this is a fantastic idea. In today’s world you see a lot more fans flocking to the high-flying style and this is something that can be evidenced by the rise of Lucha Underground and the resurgence of wrestling in both Japan and Mexico. This is the hot thing at the moment and Triple H is cashing in on this with this event that he is putting together.

As for who will be in the tournament, that’s something pretty interesting to think about. We know that Triple H already has a nice relationship with the EVOLVE promotion, and it was reported a while back that he indeed have a meeting with the folks from Lucha Underground. You would have to imagine that meeting had something to do with this.

The announcements of the competitors will be coming in time, but for right now let’s just be happy that in July we get to watch something that will probably be one of the best things the company does all year long.
