Tobias Harris Traded to the Pistons

In case you have been living under a rock the Pistons made a trade and acquired the services of Tobias Harris and sent away Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings to the Orlando Magic. We will take some time here and give you some opinions on what we expect to happen as far as value for the affected players.

I think the first obvious winner here is Tobias Harris. His situation and minutes may not change a whole lot, but to go from a team wanting to trade him to a team that wants his services has to be a decent plus. His numbers certainly have room for improvement and he could stand to have a bigger offensive role with the Pistons.

Brandon Jennings will likely see some improvement, but probably not enough to be worthy of a spot in standard leagues. He will possibly split the point guard minutes and could wind up being a decent addition down the road should he beat Payton out for minutes or an injury. I would only advise adding him in the case you  have someone who is not producing to cut.

Aaron Gordon is also a prime candidate to continue the breakout he has been having already. The moving of Harris frees up all the power forward minutes that Gordon can handle and then some. If he is floating around in one of your leagues on the waiver wire then you need to add him as soon as possible.

Assuming that the Magic are not done dealing another possible winner here could be Evan Fournier. He is coming off of a big game and could be an effective addition for your team in a 12 team league if he is available.

I do not expect a bunch of change in Detroit with the exception of someone will need to fill Jennings’ role as the backup point guard. The Pistons could add someone or they could run with Steve Blake in that role.

As for the losers of this deal I would think that Elfrid Payton would certainly be one. He went from being the guy with very little in the form of a backup to now having some decent competition. Of course as I stated already, the Magic could still have more trades up their sleeves as they have been rumored to be dealing away Channing Frye. There have also been rumors of moving Victor Oladipo, but I am not sure I understand that one. At any rate that is how we see it for now.
