The Washington Wizards have continued to express interest in acquiring veteran big man Miles Plumlee from the Milwaukee Bucks in an NBA trade deadline deal.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical of Yahoo! Sports, the Washington Wizards have once again decided to resume trade talks with the Milwaukee Bucks about rotational big man Miles Plumlee.

Wojnarowski wrote that this trade between both struggling Eastern Conference teams involving Plumlee could come to fruition “should the Bucks be unable to find a larger deal on the market.”

After making the 2015 Eastern Conference Playoffs the year before, both the Wizards and the Bucks find themselves having disappointing sub-.500 2015-16 NBA seasons, as both clubs would miss the NBA Playoffs if they were to start today.

Washington is teetering on the possibly of going into rebuilding mode this offseason should the Wizards not be able to lure DC native Kevin Durant to join point guard John Wall to form an Eastern Conference juggernaut. The Wizards need depth particularly in the frontcourt, something Plumlee should be able to provide Washington.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Bucks have to many tall and rangy players on its roster for head coach Jason Kidd to put together a fully functional basketball team. Milwaukee has an abundance of bigs, but don’t have a suitable point guard to get their bigs the basketball in the low post.

While trading Plumlee to a team like the Wizards won’t solve all the issues in terms of spacing that are plaguing the Bucks’ frontcourt, it could help the Bucks attempt to have more balance on their roster entering next season if they ask for a backcourt player in return for Plumlee.

Perhaps a trade between these two massively disappointing teams in the East could prove to be mutually beneficial. A trade involving Plumlee isn’t going to massively change either organization’s fate in 2016, but could serve as a fine jumping off point for this summer’s free agency period and the 2016 NBA Draft.
