With the NBA trade deadline almost upon us, let’s breakdown five stars to gauge their value on the market.

The NBA trade deadline is closing in, which means we’ll finally get to see whether or not a major trade takes place. Teams won’t surrender their star players easily, and when it comes to holding out till the best offers emerge, waiting till the last few hours is often necessary. That’s when the clubs desperate to make a blockbuster move package their best offers, potentially changing the landscape of the league.

We’ve already seen the Orlando Magic trade Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons for Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilysova. It’s the first notable move of deadline week and very well could be one of the biggest, though there are still plenty of moving pieces out there.

Will a team like the Boston Celtics use some of their many assets to trade quantity for quality? Will the Miami Heat deal Hassan Whiteside? Will anyone be willing to take on a former superstar like Dwight Howard? Are the Los Angeles Clippers really going to consider trading Blake Griffin?

It’s time to look into some of those questions, and also consider the value of some of the stars who may be dealt.

This piece won’t just rank these five players based on their talent alone; there’s more to consider than that. Instead, we’ll look at their upside, their contract situation, how they can help change the future of a new team, and what value they hold to their current team.

Without making ridiculous suggestions like DeMarcus Cousins or any Golden State Warriors player, here’s a look at five star players who could be heading towards a move.
