NBA Trade Rumors: Mike Conley to the Pistons?
Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is starting to make his way into the NBA trade rumors.
On Thursday at 3 p.m. EST, the NBA trade deadline will arrive, which will end the recent NBA trade rumors. This means teams must have all trades finalized heading into the last few months of the regular season.
Multiple names have been moved so far like Tobias Harris and Brandon Jennings. The Memphis Grizzlies also moved Courtney Lee to the Charlotte Hornets to alleviate the loss of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to season-ending surgery. However, the Grizzlies may not be done with transactions.
According to Brian Geltzeiler of Hoops Critic, the Grizzlies are in talks with the Detroit Pistons about a deal for point guard Mike Conley. This comes one day after they shipped Jennings to the Magic.

This may come as somewhat of a surprise given how well starting point guard Reggie Jackson has performed this season. It’s possible head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy may like the potential of this smaller duo in the backcourt, though. The former Boston College star is more of a scoring threat while Conley may be the better passer.
If this deal happens, it will be interesting to see what Detroit would give up since Memphis has always been high on Conley. Maybe other teams enter the equation to make this a three-way deal on Thursday before the NBA trade deadline hits.
