The Cavaliers look as if they will hang on to Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert and Anderson Varejao at the NBA Trade Deadline

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been quite active in regards to discussions leading up to the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline. However, they have yet to see any trades go through to this point on any level. As of late Wednesday night, it appears like if the Cavaliers get a deal done at all, it won’t include the likes of Kevin Love or Iman Shumpert.

According to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, the feeling around the Cavaliers with just hours remaining until the trade deadline is that the team will not go through with a deal for Love, Shumpert, or Anderson Varejao. If the Cavs get a deal done before Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, it will be something minor and not many of the major deals that have been tossed around in rumors.

Even if it’s a minor deal, the Cavaliers are undoubtedly in need of making changes as they try to put themselves in a better position to compete for a title. Moving Kevin Love would’ve shaken things up the most and obviously have brought back the biggest return, but that’s a big risk for the Cavs to take so it’s not wholly surprising that they’d want to stand pat.

The reason that the Cavaliers would stand pat on Shumpert and Varejao at the deadline is a bit different as there likely just isn’t a market for either player that’s going to materialize before the deadline.

What else the team has in store beyond that and in regards to those minor deals, though, still remains to be seen. Things are fluid in Cleveland, but the trade picture seems to be taking its final form.
