Derrick Rose turns back the clock with amazing layup (Video)

Derrick Rose turned in a vintage highlight that is both amazing and depressing at the same time.
There was once at time when Derrick Rose looked like he was going be the next big superstar in the NBA. He ran away with the MVP vote in 2010-11 and he took the Bulls the closest they’ve been to the NBA Finals since the Jordan era. Then his ACL stopped deciding that it wanted to remain intact and his knees aged about seventy years in just a few seasons.
Now we’re in a depressing state where whatever highlight play Rose turns in is just a painful slap in the face reminder of what he once almost was. He did this to us all again on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Just watch — and remember what it was once like to be so hopeful about what D-Rose would become:
Of course, we used to see this all of the time out of Rose — until his knee cartilage turned to wet noodles. After numerous injuries to his knees, starting with a torn ACL in the 2012 playoffs, Rose’s potential went from what Steph Curry is doing right now to what Mickey Mantle was. That’s still not a bad ceiling to have, but Rose is forever going to be a what-if scenario in sports, and that’s depressing.
He’s clearly still got whatever it is he needs to be a big time player in the NBA, but at this point we’ve conditioned ourselves to wait for the other shoe to drop when it comes to Rose.
