According to a report, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Joel Anthony before the end of the NBA Trade Deadline.

The 2016 NBA Trade Deadline didn’t see any real big moves take place, but it saw plenty of small moves made by teams on Thursday. One of those players traded on Thursday, was center Joel Anthony. In fact, Anthony was traded twice on the day in separate deals.

Anthony was first traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Houston Rockets in a multiplayer deal. While it would seem like Anthony’s day was over after being traded, he is on the move again. According to Marc J. Spears, the Rockets have shipped out Anthony to the Philadelphia 76ers.

By taking on Anthony’s contract, the 76ers will be receiving a second-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Rockets will also receive the rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum in the deal.

This is textbook 76ers to take on a contract for a draft pick, and it’s yet another asset in a long line of growing assets that the 76ers have. Daryl Morey and Sam Hinkie are no strangers to making deal with each other and this is one of those small moves that will fly under the radar.

The Rockets really had no need for Anthony and the 76ers are doing them a favor by taking on his contract. In return, the Rockets are giving them a draft asset that they covet.
