The Detroit Pistons have reportedly offered the Rockets Joel Anthony in exchange for Donatas Motiejunas

The 2016 NBA Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, which means that things are only going to crazier by the minute. One team who has already made a trade before the deadline is the Detroit Pistons when they acquired Tobias Harris. However, the Pistons weren’t even close to done and are still looking to make moves, the latest of which is to bring in forward Donatas Motiejunas from the Houston Rockets.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Pistons have made an offer to the Rockets for Motiejunas that would send veteran center Joel Anthony to Houston in return:

If that trade seems highly unlikely to happen because of how lopsided it is, that would be the correct assumption. Stein added that there would likely be draft picks attached to Anthony as part of the package for Motiejunas as the Rockets are high on the big man and wouldn’t part with him solely for Anthony:

Motiejunas would make almost too much sense in Detroit under Stan Van Gundy, so it’s no surprise that they are making a move to get him before the deadline. Not only is a he a big man who can stretch the floor a bit, but him coming off of the bench behind Andre Drummond to play in the pick-and-roll and offer a different look with the reserves is highly enticing.

With their activity at the trade deadline, it’s clear that the Pistons and Van Gundy are planning on making a strong playoff push through the remaining two months of the regular season. After trading for Harris and now possibly getting Motiejunas as well, it’s hard to say that won’t be in the cards.
