Dallas Cowboys defensive Randy Gregory has been suspended for four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Coming into the NFL in 2015, Randy Gregory fell down or off many draft boards for testing positive for marijuana at the league’s annual scouting combine. Gregory was seen to have first-round potential, but his issues off the field with marijuana had many teams fearful to take a risk on him.
As a result, he fell to the bottom of the second round, when the Dallas Cowboys decided to take a chance on Gregory. He didn’t have much of an impact for the Cowboys in his rookie season. He finished with zero sacks and he was partly impacted by an ankle injury.
Still, the Cowboys might be second guessing their risk on taking Gregory now. On Friday, Gregory was suspended for four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, according to Ian Rapoport.
#Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has been suspended for the first 4 games of 2016 for violating @NFL substance abuse policy. He has a history.

Even worse, Gregory reportedly failed four tests, which has led to his four-game suspension.
Per @NFL drug policy, Randy Gregory failed 4 tests. 1st at combine -- in the program. Then 2-gm fine, then 4-gm fine, then 4-gm suspension

What makes this even more alarming is the amount of tests that he failed. The Cowboys already have a reputation for taking in players that have a history and it’s bitten them many times. Now, they will be without Gregory for the first four games of next season.
Also add in the fact that he clearly has issues by failing repeated tests, and the Cowboys should have a great deal of concern when it comes to Gregory going forward.
