The Nextera Energy Resources 250 opened up the NASCAR Truck Series with multiple crashes and some controversy at Daytona.

Daytona Week has been filled with a lot of action worth not missing. The trend continued on Friday at NASCAR Truck Series’ opening race, the Nextera Energy Resources 250. Throughout their race there were a few crashes and multiple cautions mainly due to a new caution timer. However, the craziest crash came when the leader finished the race at Daytona.

It’s unclear to see how the crash started, but it ended with shrapnel flying everywhere and a NASCAR Truck Series vehicle going airborne and flipping over multiple times. Luckily, it appears that no one was seriously injured.

Johnny Sauter crossed the finish line before all hell broke loose to win the Nextera Energy Resources 250 and start his 2016 season on the right foot.

If the events from Nextera Energy Resources 250 is any indication, the XFINITY Series event and the Daytona 500 at Daytona are set to be filled with multiple crashes and vehicles left destroyed. With the venue being a speedway and it being wider than other tracks around the nation, it’s not surprising that cars end up violently spinning, flipping and flying into the air.

The big caution to end the Nextera Energy Resources 250 could have ended much worse, but lucky the only things really damaged were the cars and not the drivers.
