The first race of the NASCAR Truck Series gets underway at Daytona on Friday night.

Daytona International Speedway’s big event doesn’t get underway until Sunday, but there is many events throughout the week. The NASCAR Truck Series will be the first full race of the season on Friday with the Nextera Energy Resources 250 set to begin on Friday night.

It’s important for drivers to kick off their season on a high note. By starting strong and will wins, top-five, or top-10 finishes earlier on, those drivers end up having a less stressful season as it goes by. Nonetheless, the season is a marathon more than a sprint, so it’s more important to be consistent down the stretch whether than having a lot of highs and lows throughout their racing.

In last year’s race at Daytona, Tyler Reddick lead the most laps and won despite Ty Dillon starting from the pole position. His win in a Ford car ended Toyota’s eight-year winning streak in the race.

If Reddick can win again this season, he will be the first driver to win back-to-back Nextera Energy Resources 250 races since Todd Bodine won the 2008 and 2009 races.
