Nashville Predators general manager David Poile would feel comfortable with making no moves before the NHL trade deadline

The Nashville Predators currently find themselves in the thick of a tough playoff race in the Western Conference and the Central Division. Despite this, Predators general manager David Poile doesn’t feel pressured to make any additional moves before the trade deadline on Feb. 29.

“If we don’t make any trades this year, I’m comfortable,” Poile said, via The Tennessean. “We’ve made a big trade. We’ve made a big trade that should have made our team better. And to this point, it hasn’t, but I believe all the ingredients are there within our team to carry us into the playoffs and have success in the playoffs. I am doing my job in terms of making calls, and if something is there that can improve our team, I will do that, but I’m comfortable with the makeup of our team.”

The trade that David Poile is referring to is the one that sent defenseman Seth Jones to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for center Ryan Johansen. While Johansen has been everything that Nashville could have reasonably expected him to be, the Predators are still looking to add some offense. It’s not likely that they will make a big splash before Feb. 29, but a small depth pickup could be in store if things don’t change in Nashville.

Expect things in Nashville to change a bit if the Predators don’t improve on their first round exit from the playoffs last season.
