An Instagram post from WWE star John Cena has fans wondering if CM Punk will be at WrestleMania 32
Since his abrupt and unceremonious departure from WWE, CM Punk has been adamant that he won’t be returning to the squared circle after signing a contract with UFC. However, Punk has yet to enter the octagon and his finally scheduled first fight was recently postponed due to reported back surgery to repair a herniated disk for Punk. However, there’s at least a hint from a prominent WWE superstar that Punk could be coming back to WWE just in time for WrestleMania 32.
On Saturday afternoon, injured WWE star John Cena posted a picture with no caption to Instagram that seemingly spoke volumes in regards to rumors of a CM Punk return to WWE. That picture? Punk’s famed Twitter avatar of Paul Newman in the movie Slap Shot:
There’s a chance that this is just Cena being bored and posting coded messages, but let’s remember two things. First, when AJ Styles was rumored to be coming to WWE, Cena posted a picture of Styles from many years ago that sparked a ton of rumors.
However, the second big thing to keep in mind is in regards to The Undertaker. The word going around on Undertaker’s opponent for WrestleMania 32 is that it is going to be someone who is not currently on the WWE roster and not currently wrestling. Wouldn’t CM Punk ultimately fit the bill? The answer is yes.
Obviously Cena’s Instagram post could ultimately mean nothing for WWE or CM Punk’s future plans and, frankly, that might be the more likely option. And yeah, the guy did apparently just have back surgery. However, given the Undertaker rumors around WrestleMania 32 and now the company’s biggest star making obvious references to the Voice of the Voiceless, it certainly makes fans wonder if maybe that this whole UFC thing might be a work and wondering if they’ll be hearing “Cult of Personality” blaring inside Cowboys Stadium.
