John Wall said that fans liked free chicken more than the Wizards winning.

Many NBA teams have special deals for fans when something special happens during the game with local food places or fast food places. The Washington Wizards have a promotion where if a player from the opposing team misses both of his attempted free throws in the fourth quarter, fans get a free chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-A.

This spectacular event occurred during the fourth quarter of the Washington Wizards’ win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, and fans were excited for their free chicken. So excited, in fact, that team point guard John Wall said that fans were more excited for the chicken than they were for the win.

“They were more excited for a free chicken sandwich than a win, that’s what it looked like,” is what Wall proclaimed about the fans in attendance at the game.

Although the quote seems a little harsh from Wall and seems like a rip on the fans loyalty to the team, it’s pretty obvious that he’s just playing around with the fans. It’s a cool promotion, and hey, who wouldn’t be excited about free Chick-Fil-A?

The Wizards have done a lot more losing than expected this season with a record of 25-28, so the fans deserve to finally get excited over something.
