According to a report, there is “virtually no chance” of Mohamed Sanu staying with the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason.
NFL Free Agency is just around the corner and teams have already begun making moves, as they try to get their cap set for the new league year. Not only will teams continue to cut players in the coming weeks, but they will also have to decide which players that they are going to re-sign and which players they are better off letting walk to another destination in the league.
It appears that the Cincinnati Bengals are going to let wide receiver Mohamed Sanu walk and go somewhere else in free agency. According to Fox Sport’s Alex Marvez, there is “virtually no chance” of Sanu re-signing with the Bengals and continuing his career in Cincinnati.
Sanu’s agent also has reportedly not talked to the Bengals at all, which means that the writing is on the wall for him. Sanu never really turned into a top receiver while with the Bengals, but he was a solid receiving option and had an effective season this year for the Bengals.
The likely destination would seem to be the Cleveland Browns, where his former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is now the head coach. Sanu knows the offense real well and could step right in as an option for the Browns’ offense.
He will also have other teams around the league kick the tires on him as well. If his price tag isn’t too high, he could pay off and be a nice free agent target for wherever he ends up. It just doesn’t appear that it’s going to be Cincinnati.
