The Milwaukee Bucks are frontrunners to make a move on the buyout market with Steve Novak.

The NBA trade deadline may have passed, but there is still movement to be made throughout the league as the March 1st buyout deadline looms.

Teams have until March 1st to cut players and have them remain playoff eligible for whoever signs them. Already players like Anderson Varejao and David Lee have hit waivers, with Steve Novak among the other players to have been waived. Just like Varejao and Lee, there are a number of teams interested in signing him but only one true frontrunner at this point.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN, the Bucks are frontrunners to land Novak once he clears waivers.

Novak is expected to clear waivers before the weekend is over, but the Bucks aren’t the only team with interest in the three-point vet. On Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers were mentioned as being interested in the services of Novak, which makes sense since they’re still trying to construct a roster to counter the talents of Golden State.

Milwaukee has jumped up and surprised us a handful of times since the end of last season when they made the playoffs as a six-seed out East. They made a splash by signing top free agent Greg Monroe and placed calls about acquiring Dwight Howard before the deadline passed on Thursday.

Now they’re in on Novak, as Milwaukee refuses to go away in the playoff hunt in the East.
