Assessing and grading every NBA team’s movement at the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline

The 2016 NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone and, well, there’s not a great deal that happened. Sure, there were a number of trades around the league that were pushed through by 3 p.m. ET on Thursday afternoon, but it felt far less active than the previous year’s deadline. Even more disappointing for those desiring action, none of the big names that would’ve been the primary piece in a blockbuster trade were moved.

The narrative coming out of the deadline was that there was a distinct reason as to why those blockbuster deals failed to come to fruition and it has nothing to do with teams asking for too much or anything of that sort. Instead, it has everything to do with the Golden State Warriors.

This may seem trivial, but the notion that teams around the league believe no one can beat the Warriors obviously affected the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline. Teams didn’t feel like mortgaging their assets in a futile effort to upend Golden State. That’s somewhat depressing in terms of fans wanting competition, but it’s the reality that the Warriors have created.

However, there were still trades made and teams who walked away either in substantially better position. There are also those teams that fans have no idea what the hell they were thinking. Let’s look at all of them and grade what they did. These are the grades for every NBA team for the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline.
