Los Angeles Lakers

If you were to ask anyone to make a couple of trades to fix the Los Angeles Lakers, it might take a couple of hours to figure out what those feasible trades are – if they even exist at all. That was the state of the franchise as they approached the trade deadline. Though they had some potentially movable assets, they weren’t in a position with any leverage – and certainly not in a spot where it really mattered if they made a deal or not.

The Lakers had made it clear coming up to the deadline that they were going to try and unload any of their three long-ish term contracts that they handed out to veteran players Lou Williams, Brandon Bass, and Nick Young. Moreover, they were also going to try and move Roy Hibbert’s massive expiring contract to a team that can actually use a rim protector properly.

In the end, though, there weren’t any buyers for any of the pieces the Lakers were willing to offer. It honestly doesn’t move the needle that much for this team, though, especially considering that their young players were never really on the table. This team was going to be bad no matter what they did, so doing nothing really is almost irrelevant.
