No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners vs No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers

You know it’s almost March when the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners are losing on the road to Texas Tech — although the Red Raiders aren’t necessarily that bad. Oklahoma is coming off an upset loss, but the Sooners are still one of the best teams in the country, looking to prove it on the road against another top-10 squad.

It’s pretty clear that Buddy Hield is the front-runner for national player of the year, averaging 25.2 points and 5.6 rebounds while making 49 percent of his threes and 50 percent of his field goals. The top three scorers for Oklahoma make over 40 percent of their three-pointers and, as a team, the Sooners shoot 43 percent from downtown.

West Virginia is also coming off somewhat of an upset loss on the road as the Mountaineers were dropped by No. 24 Texas. That marked their second loss in three games and third in six contests — West Virginia is plateauing at the worst possible time. If the Mountaineers can take care of business against Oklahoma, the momentum will swing back in their direction.

Devin Williams and Jaysean Paige have both played in every game for the Mountaineers and have the same scoring marks — 13.5 points per game. Williams is more of a rebounder, averaging 9.1 boards, while Paige shoots about 36 percent from three-point range. Sophomore guard Daxter Miles Jr. strained his hamstring last week and might miss this game.
