Who holds the record for the highest vertical jump at the NFL Scouting Combine?

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley had a relatively unremarkable rookie season, tallying 17 receptions for 199 yards and a touchdown. At a 2015 NFL regional scouting combine, however, Conley, a former Georgia player, made quite an impression when he tied the NFL combine record for best vertical jump reaching a mark of 45 inches. Here is Chris Conley’s incredible effort.

Conley’s mark would be shattered shortly thereafter at a regional combine where cornerback Willie Creear of Eastern Michigan managed to reach 47 inches. Creear told the Broncos.com, “Usually I jump about 40, 41. I was blessed to have a good trainer working on good technique, doing a lot of things. I think the (the regional combine) is a good alternative for other athletes who either come from smaller schools or might be hidden behind that other guy on your team that gets that invite to Indianapolis. I think it’s a good experience.”

How impressive is Creear’s mark? To put things in perspective, Michael Jordan’s best vertical leap is only an inch higher than Conley’s. LeBron James’ best vertical jump is 44 inches. While a vertical jump might seem more relevant to basketball players such as Jordan and James, that particular metric can help measure a player’s overall explosiveness. Unfortunately for Creear, his remarkable vertical jump did not land him a spot on an NFL team for 2015.

While Conley and Creear were busy breaking records, UConn cornerback Byron James shattered the combine record in the broad jump by eight inches with an impressive effort of 147 inches.
