Michigan Wolverines vs No. 6 Maryland Terrapins
With news coming out that head coach John Beilein considering shutting Caris LeVert down for the rest of the season, the Michigan Wolverines know they have their work cut out for them if they want to make the NCAA Tournament this year. The Wolverines are currently 19-8 with a 9-5 Big Ten record and a tough road game looming Sunday afternoon.

In the absence of the team’s leading scorer, Derrick Walton Jr. will have to step up and deliver as a captain and leader. He’s averaging 12.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists as a point guard and he’s also making about 42 percent of his threes. The Wolverines can’t keep living and dying by the three if they want to win Sunday, though.
Maryland is coming off its biggest upset defeat in years as the Terrapins lost on the road to previously winless — in Big Ten play — Minnesota. The Golden Gophers were 0-13 in conference action before the win and now the Terrapins have to regroup as they’re also getting stud freshman Diamond Stone back from suspension.
Stone is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 points while also grabbing 5.4 rebounds and swatting 1.7 shots per contest. Melo Trimble seems to be the leader of this team, though, averaging 14.0 points and 5.3 assists per game. He’s a Big Ten Player of the Year candidate even though his numbers have dipped from last season.
