The Spurs are now another team that will be looking to bring Anderson Varejao in.

Last week the Cleveland Cavaliers made a move that some of us really saw coming, that being parting ways with veteran big man Anderson Varejao. His role with the Cavaliers has dwindled rapidly, so as beloved as he was in the city and by the organization, it was just a move that had to be made.

In the days since his release from the team, there have been a few names thrown around as teams that could land his services here in the second half of the season, with the Golden State Warriors being the most popular contender.

But, they might have some competition for Varejao and it’s maybe their biggest threat in the Western Conference.

According to Marc Stein, while the Warriors still might be the front runners, the San Antonio Spurs are going to do their part in trying to bring the veteran big in for the stretch run of the season.

Really, this is a good position Varejao is in. It might have been difficult for him to leave Cleveland after being there for so long, but right now it appears as if his chances of leaving this season with a ring are pretty good.

Now it’s more a matter of whether or not he gets that ring as a member of the Warriors or the Spurs.
