According to a report out of Italy, Manchester United have decided to make massive bid for Paris St-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson decided to sail off in the sunset and retire from the rigorous duties of being a head coach at Old Trafford, Manchester United have struggled to find success on the pitch. Ferguson spent nearly thirty years on the bench with the Red Devils, but the team is already on their second coach within the last three years and will likely have someone else calling the shots next season.

As a result of their woes, the club is looking to bolster their roster in the summer to help the club become one of England’s elite again. According to a recent report from Italian outlet, Tuttomercatoweb, Manchester United have set their sights on Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani. The 29-year-old became a hero in Southern Italy with Napoli, before making a whopping €64.5 million move in the summer of 2013, to the Parc des Princes.

While Paris St-Germain have dominated domestic competition in France, winning three consecutive league titles and six cups since 2013, they have failed to make a significant impact in Europe. Cavani has also become increasingly frustrated being forced to play out wide, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the team’s first option to play as a center forward.

According to the aforementioned report, Manchester United are willing to offer up to  €50 million to secure the Uruguayan’s services. However, they are far from the only club interested in the striker, with Juventus also said to be in the hunt for Cavani as he has a plethora of experience and success in the Italian top flight.

It’ll be interesting to see how this saga plays out, but expect Cavani to be on the move in the summer.
