It wasn’t that long ago that no one knew who Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova was. The Australian pro made a name for himself in the postseason last year when he was deemed a dirty player, but he won the hearts of fans in Cleveland long before the media vilified him.
But at the end of the day, the mythos of Delly has it’s plot holes — one of which being that he’s nothing more than an above average player on his best day. MVP candidate Russell Westbrook reminded us of this in the most embarrassing way possible when he punked Delly all the way back to Oz.

Delly isn’t a terrible option for the Cavaliers, but he’s not going to stop a superstar when he’s faced with a life and death situation like this. Granted, it’s not the NBA Finals or anything, but this is something that reminds us that while Delly is fun to get behind as an everyman who shot to stardom — he’s still a mere mortal.
If anything, this confirms that today we’re all Matthew Dellavedova.
