Salih Dursun of Turkish club Trabzonspor, was awarded a red card on Sunday after showing the referee a red card first.

The Turkish Super Lig has seen it’s fair share of wild events to say the least. From fans fighting in the stands, to accusations of match-fixing on the pitch, the Turkish top flight has nearly seen it all in recent years. However, on Sunday the league provided the entire planet with something nobody had ever witnessed or done before.

In a match that had already seen Trabzonspor shown two red cards against Galatasaray, the home side were awarded a penalty kick in the 87th minute at the Turk Telecom Arena. Trabzonspor defender, Luis Cavanda, immediately approached the referee to protest the decision and crossed the line by making contact with him.

After Deniz Bitnel had shown Cavanda and the visitors their third red card of the match, he accidentally dropped it on the pitch. Trabzonspor’s Salih Dursun decided to help Bitnel retrieve the card, but decided to show it to him first.

Dursun was clearly frustrated that his team had been given three red cards and had a penalty kick awarded against them in the final minutes of the match. His actions would get him sent off the pitch as well though, resulting in an astounding fourth red card for the visitors.

Selcuk Inan would ultimately convert from the spot in the 89th minute of the match the give Galatasaray the 2-1 victory. They currently sit third in the Turkish top flight, with 37b points from 22 matches. Trabzonspor drop to ninth, with just 27 points from 21 matches.
