John Cleese Takes Shots at Daniel Craig

Former James Bond actor John Cleese told interviewers that he finds Daniel Craig too short for Bond.

According to The Daily Telegraph, actor and comedian John Cleese discussed James Bond with interviewers at The Morning Show.

During the interview, Cleese forgot Daniel Craig’s name while discussing his skills as the current James Bond. He then went on to proclaim that Craig is “too short” to play the Ian Fleming super spy.

“This little welsh bandy leg guy that they’ve got at the moment, he’s simply not tall enough,” Cleese said.

Cleese, known for his work with Monty Python and his role on BBC sitcom Fawlty Towers, is clearly speaking in jest. Given that his website is taglined “Writer, Actor & Tall Person,” the man has height on the brain.

Cleese went on to praise former Bond Pierce Brosnan, whom he worked with on two occasions. The comedian played a tech expert in MI6’s Q Branch in The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day, Brosnan’s final two films as the spy.

He took over the role from Desmond Llewelyn in Die Another Day. Llewelyn played Q in every Bond film prior.

In the interview, Cleese named Brosnan the best Bond since Sean Connery.

This humble writer cannot bring himself to agree with Cleese’s evaluation. As whimsical as Brosnan is as Bond, his films can’t compare to Craig’s run at its best.
