The St. Louis Blues have announced that they have placed goaltender Brian Elliott on the injured reserve list

The St. Louis Blues are using the injured reserve list once again. Only days after placing forward Alexander Steen on it, St. Louis will be placing goaltender Brian Elliott on the shelf after he sustained a lower-body injury on Monday against the San Jose Sharks, forcing him to leave the game. The injury will cause him to miss at least the next four weeks.

From NHL.com:

"The Blues have recalled goaltender Pheonix Copley from the Chicago Wolves under emergency conditions. Copley recently served as the backup goaltender when Allen was out and is 12-12-2 with a 2.73 goals-against average and a .907 save-percentage with the Wolves this season."

The Blues did recently get goalie Jake Allen off the injured reserve list so expect him to get a majority of the starts until Elliott is back. St. Louis adopted the same strategy while Allen was injured so expect them to do the same while Elliott is injured.

Allen has an 18-11-3 record this season in 34 appearances with a save percentage of .923 and a 2.18 GAA. Copley has never played in the NHL. He arrived in St. Louis after being sent to the Blues organization from the Washington Capitals in the T.J. Oshie trade. This could really be a tough blow for the Blues, who currently sit behind the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars in the Central Division.
