Andre Johnson likely to be cut by the Colts

After just one season with the Indianapolis Colts, it appears likely that we have seen the last of Andre Johnson in Indianapolis, and possibly for good.

According to Ian Rapoport, Andre Johnson will be cut by the Colts, as he is due to make $7.25 million next season. After a lackluster performance last year, Rapport also believes that there is a chance that Johnson will follow in the footsteps of Calvin Johnson and go out on his own terms.

In his first season with the team, Johnson was figured to be a significant part of the offense to help Andrew Luck and the Colts get over the hump after a loss in the 2014 AFC Championship Game to the New England Patriots.

After 12 outstanding seasons with the Houston Texans, Johnson totaled just 41 receptions, 503 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns in 2015.

It makes all the sense in the world for the Colts to part ways with Johnson, as they are a very flawed team that needs more help than an aged wideout.

If this is the end of the road for Johnson, it has been a great career for the 13-year veteran. In 13 seasons, Johnson has totaled 1,053 receptions, 14,100 receiving yards, 68 receiving touchdowns. Johnson was considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL for a few years in the late 2000s when he had back-to-back years with over 1,500 receiving yards.

While Johnson is certainly heading to Canton, Ohio one day, he will likely be going without a Super Bowl ring.

There was a significant drop off in production last season, but if a contending team does call him, Johnson may try to chase a ring in 2016.
