Champions League play pits two teams together that should produce an obvious result, but recent events may hint otherwise. Here are the ways to watch.

Dynamo Kiev have this really good attacker named Andriy Yarmolenko. The Ukrainian attacker is a barn burner in the Ukrainian Premier League. While that may not seem like much of a resume builder at the age of 26, this guy has a serious tendency to do the remarkable.

As a versatile attacker, the hopes of Kiev rest on his laurels. He will be matched up against a Manchester City defense that has been hit or miss all year. But mainly miss away from home. In the Champions League, there is not much chance to recover from a poor result. If the Ukrainian underdogs can pull one over on the Citizens in their homeland, a depleted and demoralized City may find extreme difficulty returning home to turn the result around.

Also of note, Yarmolenko is eyeing up a move to England. There are not many better ways to prove yourself than to beat up and English team.

Every since Pep Guardiola announced he was coming to Manchester City, Pellegrini has seemingly checked out and the Sky Blues have taken some poor results. They threw in the towel with a largely U18 side in the FA Cup and were squashed 5-1 to Chelsea. It’s looking like Champions League or bust.

They were also just beat 2-1 by Tottenham and 3-1 by Leicester to solidify where they stand in the English pecking order. That means that in their last three games, they have been outscored 10-3. That’s not a confidence builder.

Going into Ukraine is not going to be an easy feat, least of all for a team that struggles away from home and can’t seem to pick up the pieces of a shambolic run. City are clearly going all in for the Champions League, but you must have something to build on.
