Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has stated that he wants his players to be “horny” in their upcoming second leg against FC Midtylland in the Europa League.

Louis Van Gaal has had a tough time this season at Old Trafford. The Manchester United manager has a led a side to their worst Premier League points total at this point through the year in history, instilled a philosophy of boring, slow, lethargic and defensive football and has all round under performed as manager of the one of the biggest clubs in world football.

He’s managed to achieve all this while spending insane amounts of money on players that are simply not good enough. All this failure may well have sent him slightly mad, judging by his recent comments, as he has said he wants his players to be “horny” when they try to overturn a 2-1 deficit against FC Midtylland.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Van Gaal stated:

"“[I want] Desire, hunger. A lot of times I use the word horny."

This is a rather strange statement to make before United’s crucial second leg. While it seems rather self explanatory to expect a desire and hunger from your players, to even think of using the word “horny” is down right weird. However, Van Gaal has proven that he is a man of the path least trodden throughout his tenure in England.

He has sold many players that others would have kept, has spent money on players that many felt were overrated and has continued to instill a philosophy that does not match the attacking football that Manchester United have played over the years. Whatever the case, as long as he gets results, which is something that has evaded him so far, then who can complain. It remains to be seen whether asking his players to be horny will achieve such results.
